For the first time, the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois plans to participate in the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon as an Associated Charity. In order for us to obtain this status, we need to guarantee at least 15 runners to run on behalf of our organization! On November 15, 2008 the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois will welcome you to the annual Gift of Life Gala at the Hyatt’s exciting Club 151 in downtown Chicago.  But this year, it won’t feel like the windy city when we transport you across the ocean for a romantic evening with twinkling trees and a fabulous menu of everything French!

A fête de la vie! A party of life awaits you with an exciting new format!  This year, our black tie optional event will be high energy with progressive entertainment, dancing, casino, and fabulous food stations amidst a winding path of silent auction items bordered by a beautiful indoor river.

This year’s Gift of Life Gala will honor Connie Payton and family for carrying on the work of her beloved husband Walter Payton, Chicago Bears football legend, to promote organ donation and a better understanding of the process of giving the Gift of Life.

Gift of Life Walk

Typically each year more than 1,000 participants joined the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois in support of kidney disease and diabetes awareness and prevention, organ donation education and early detection programs. This free event is offered to kidney patients, their families and friends, healthcare providers, transplant recipients, organ donor families and members of the Chicago area community. Following the three mile walk along Lake Michigan is an exciting and informative health fair and fantastic entertainment. Kidney Camp

For one week, children ages 7-15 with chronic kidney disease, on dialysis or living with kidney transplants can experience the freedom, fun and independence of a traditional summer camp - free of charge! Activities include swimming, boating, horseback riding and arts and crafts. All of this is done in a safe environment where they continue to receive their medications and/or dialysis treatments at a local clinic.
