JOB DESCRIPTION: KidneyMobile Driver

Position Overview:
The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois (NKFI) developed the KidneyMobile®(KM) to conduct community-based screenings, provide disease education, and facilitate follow-up for diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease within Illinois. The KidneyMobile Driver is responsible for safely driving the KidneyMobile (KM) vehicle, as well as planning the logistical activities of parking and helping other National Kidney Foundation of Illinois (NKFI) staff with stocking inventory.
The KidneyMobile Driver is responsible for ensuring all inventory and equipment for screenings are organized aboard the KM. The KidneyMobile Driver must be available to drive the KM to and from KidneyMobile screening sites. The Driver is responsible for unloading and loading all supplies to and from the KM and will assist NKFI staff with any supply needs throughout the screening. The Driver will otherwise work inside the screening site, assisting other NKFI staff members with non-medical portions of the screening.
Other duties will include: routine refueling of the KM, maintaining cleanliness of KidneyMobile (interior and exterior) and transporting the KidneyMobile from its parking spot in downtown Chicago to and from all screenings.
The KidneyMobile Driver Must:

Have an Illinois drivers’ license

Be eligible for coverage by NKFI’s insurance plan.

Possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work well independently and as a part of a team.

Have the ability to safely lift 20-75 lbs with the assistance of a handcart

Have access to a reliable cellular phone and transportation to and from the truck site

Be willing to travel to any and all job sites, including weekend and overnight travel.

The KidneyMobile Driver will report directly to the Manager of the KidneyMobile.
This is a part-time, hourly contract position. The scheduled driving hours typically fall in the months of March-November (with some exceptions). Maintenance and other duties may be assigned during or outside of this time frame. Driver must have schedule flexibility. Background check required.
