Chicago Marathon Volunteers Needed!

The 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon and Abbott Health & Fitness Expo (packet pickup) are rapidly approaching and we could use your help staffing our expo booth and cheering on Team Kidney at the charity block party tent.

Please take a look at the details and time slots below and let us know by Wednesday, September 25 if you are interested and able to help. You can volunteer for a different timeframe than the ones listed (ie 12 - 4 or all day, etc.) as your schedule permits – any bit helps. A big thank you to those who have already volunteered!

Expo Details and Shifts:

The Expo is a 3-day participant packet pick up and health fair located in McCormick Place. Participants have the opportunity to interact with vendors, sponsors, and charities after they receive everything they need for race day.

The NKFI will have a table set up to distribute materials and collect information from those who may be interested in running for Team Kidney in the future. We will have our trivia wheel out as well!

Open shifts include:

Thursday 10/10/24:

11 AM to 2 PM (Expo Booth)

2 PM to 6 PM (Expo Booth)

Friday 10/11/24:

1 PM to 6 PM (Expo Booth)

Saturday 10/12/24:

9 AM to 1 PM (Expo Booth)

1 PM to 6 PM (Expo Booth)

Race Day - Charity Block Party Details and Shifts:

The Charity Block Party, located just before the mile 15 marker, is a block-long celebration for all the charity partner runners. We will be set up at the corner of Adams Street and Loomis Street to cheer on Team Kidney and all 15,000 Charity Runners participating in this year’s race.

Sunday 10/13/24:

Block Party 7:00 am to 12:30/1pm (stop time is dependent on flow of race)

Even if you are unable to commit to formally cheering on Team Kidney at the charity block party, please consider watching some of the marathon from anywhere on the route. It’s a wonderful community event and truly so much fun!

If you would like to volunteer or create a group to volunteer with, please contact our Development Coordinator, Molly Swayze, at mswayze@nkfi.org
