CHICAGO — The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois supports over 60,000 patients and people at risk of kidney disease and this year, they are celebrating 75 years of groundbreaking treatment and research.
One in three American adults is at risk for chronic kidney disease and it is estimated that about one in seven actually have the disease. The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois works to raise awareness about kidney disease and offer lifelines for those impacted by it.
The foundation also operates a one-of-a-kind mobile screening van called KidneyMobile, which offers participants the opportunity to get screened for kidney disease and review their results with a trained medical professional on-site.
KidneyMobile is set to make several stops in Chicago in the weeks ahead.
Sara Jane Castro from the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois joined WGN News on Saturday morning to discuss the foundation and the mobile screening van.
